BIG would also leave Uptown and sign to the new label. Before anything would happen with Uptown though, Puffy would get fired from the label and went out on his own to create “Bad Boy Records”. It was as a result of this column that Uptown Records caught wind of this rapper and set up a meeting and later Sean “Puff Daddy” Combs would sign Smalls to the label.
